Lumispace has manufactured and exported 126 ultra-compact surface light backlight units, reduced by 81% compared to the original design, to an overseas AI optical inspection equipment manufacturer. This product is an industrial optical lighting component that assists in the detection of minute defects inside AI camera inspection equipment. Starting from consultations in early June 2026, the project was successfully completed including production, inspection, and export packaging.
Export of 126 Ultra-Compact Backlight Units to Overseas AI Optical Inspection Equipment Manufacturer
Announcement Date: August 1, 2026
Lumispace has manufactured and exported 126 ultra-compact surface light backlight units for AI vision inspection equipment to an overseas artificial intelligence optical inspection equipment manufacturer.
Lumispace, a company specializing in custom LED lighting and industrial optical backlights, announced on August 1, 2026, that it successfully produced and exported 126 ultra-compact backlight units commissioned by an overseas AI optical inspection equipment manufacturer.
This project began about two months earlier, in early June 2026, when the overseas equipment manufacturer inquired whether Lumispace could produce a small surface light backlight.
The company was developing AI camera-based optical inspection equipment and required a custom lighting unit smaller than the existing backlight design due to reduced internal space within the equipment.
The units were produced with an outer size of approximately 83.4mm × 45.3mm and an emitting surface size of about 67mm × 40mm.
The backlight units supplied this time are installed inside AI optical inspection equipment to uniformly illuminate the inspection targets. Images captured by the camera are analyzed through AI algorithms to detect surface defects, fine contaminants, pinholes, shape defects, and more.
Lighting in AI inspection equipment is not just a simple auxiliary component.
Uniformity of the emitting surface, brightness variation, and color temperature stability directly affect camera image quality and AI detection accuracy. If the lighting is uneven, shadows, reflections, or brightness differences might be mistakenly recognized as defects instead of actual flaws.
Lumispace approached this project not merely as the production of small LED lighting but as an industrial backlight manufacturing project to create an optical environment where AI can reliably perform inspections.
The difficulty of production was particularly high.
As the emitting surface size decreases, the internal LED placement space shrinks and the distance for light diffusion inside the light guide plate shortens. This process can cause hotspots, edge darkening, visible LED particles, and brightness variations between products, so the light guide plate, diffuser, LED light source, and cable extraction structure had to be reviewed together.
During the production of the 126 units, Lumispace checked emitting surface uniformity, lighting status, appearance quality, cable extraction points, and fastening structures, and applied individual protective packaging and export cushioning packaging to prevent damage during overseas transport.
The CEO of Lumispace stated, “This project was not just about making small lights but about creating conditions where AI inspection equipment can see accurately. In AI optical inspection equipment, even minor lighting variations can affect data quality, so uniform surface illumination and consistency between products were key.”
He added, “Based on our experience in custom lighting production reviewing emitting surfaces, diffuser plates, LED light sources, and equipment fastening structures together, Lumispace is capable of manufacturing and exporting small backlight units required for industrial inspection equipment.”
This export case is regarded as an example demonstrating Lumispace’s ability to custom-produce industrial optical lighting components applicable to AI vision inspection equipment and automation equipment.
Lumispace plans to continue expanding cooperation with domestic and international equipment manufacturers in the fields of industrial backlights and optical lighting for inspection equipment.
